History: | The name originated in the 1890 gold discoveries in the Bulldog and Goldfield Mines. The section known as Harosoma Mountains (named 'Jarosoma Mountains' by Father Kino (1700) from the Pima name for the Apaches) were also known as Bulldog Mountains. The name Orohsi Mountains came from the Apache adaptation (Oro-hay) of the Spanish word for 'gold', which the Apaches has called 'Yellow Iron' (US-T121). |
