| History: | So named as an Indian legend implies that the mountains are bad medicine because no one returns once he enters the mountains. Another legend gave the earlier Spanish name 'Sierra de la Espuma' (mountains of foam) because it refers to a great flood which left its mark in the limestone of the range (AZ-T101/p. 596). |
