History: | Origionally, in the 1850's, travelers named the peaks Coronation Peak because they looked like a mitered crown. In 1852, John Russell Bartlett of the US Boundary Commission called it Pagoda Mountain because of its similarity to the tops of Hindu pagodas. Finally, in 1900, Delancey Gill, an artist on the Old Yuma Trail exploration party, named it 'Klothos Temple' for Klotho, one of the three fates (AZ-T101). |
